Mobile Phone Recycling Drive

DID YOU KNOW?

  • Cell phones contain toxic substances such as lead, nickel and zinc that enter the ecosystem when phones are taken to landfills or incinerated.
  • There are over one billion out of use cell phones in the US alone. That’s more than 3 out of use phones for every person in the US!
  • Less than 10% of cell phones are ever recycled. most enter landfills or incinerators, among other environmentally unsound destinations.
  • Average life span of mobile phone is now only 13 months!

PLEASE HELP US RAISE PUBLIC AWARENESS ABOUT THE NEGATIVE CONSEQUENCES OF NOT RECYCLING MOBILE PHONES

In partnership with Musictoday, Gibson, Ben & Jerry’s, Rhino Records and Collective Good, Rock the Earth is calling on all PHISH FESTIVAL 8 attendees to gather up as many old, unwanted mobile phones as possible and bring them to the Rock the Earth booth at Phish Festival 8 for recycling. Sweet Relief

Sweet Relief provides assistance to all types of career musicians who are struggling to make ends meet while facing illness, disability, or age-related problems. Music's most precious resource -- the artist -- sometimes needs protection.

Sweet Relief will be holding an interactive Halloween tent featuring some carnival games of skill. If someone donates a dollar they get one entry for the donated prizes. If they win at the game of skill we enter their name three times.

We will be integrating our message of helping ill and disable musicians and some awesome Halloween displays and costumed volunteers.   Among the prizes you can win will be a Martin Acoustic Guitar.
