We are also excited to announce the 2009 AKOG Mayercraft Carrier Beach Cleanup! Arriving a day early for the cruise and itching to get your Mayercraft on? Here is your chance. Reverb has coordinated a beach cleanup from 9:00 a.m. – noon at Pierpoint Landing just minutes away from the Queen Mary hotel!

Long Beach area naturalist, Meaghan O'Neill will be on hand to give us a local history of our picaresque cleanup locale. And in exchange for your generous cleaning services, you’ll receive an exclusive AKOG volunteer t-shirt to wear at the beach, as well as some delicious treats from Honest Tea and Clif Bar. To top it off, you will be one of a select few to enjoy a private beach concert by David Ryan Harris and Luke Reynolds!!

Join the guys of Guster and O.A.R. for a rousing tournament of everyone's favorite (well, maybe just ours) college game with an environmental twist! We'll be pitting fans of each band in a head-to-head single elimination tournament for the title of MCC Eco-Flip Cup Champion. Wondering where the ECO comes in? The delicious organic brews will be supplied by Peak Organic Brewing Co., and those little cups of yours are made of deliciously compostable corn plastic.

Oxfam America is an international relief and development organization that creates lasting solutions to poverty, hunger, and injustice. Together with individuals and local groups in more than 120 countries, Oxfam saves lives, helps people overcome poverty, and fights for social justice.

From floods in Bangladesh to droughts in Kenya, glacier melts in Peru to hurricanes in the Caribbean, poor countries are already suffering from the effects of climate change. Oxfam America is undertaking a campaign to address the disproportionate impacts of global warming by creating equitable solutions to the crisis. We are asking that the US cut greenhouse gas emissions, and provide financial assistance so that the most vulnerable communities can adapt.
